Talking About The Latest Buzzwords In Running A SEO Campaign

For quite some time now, I was away from my blog. Away in the sense that I was not getting ample time to write something here. Nowadays, I have bigger responsibilities at my work place. Working as a Team Leader. Yeah, feels good… But at the same time you while you have the charge to lead a SEO campaign of your client, you are always under pressure of achieving good results. You are expected to do every possible thing so that the campaigns do well. And till now, I think I am doing well if not the best.

I will just talk about something that is really very important these days according to me…( LOL I am not a Matt Cutts whom you will prefer listening to).

I have felt that nowadays, SEO job has become trickier. I still remember the days when I started my career as a SEO in Jan, 2008. At that time I hardly used to do any other thing except the Directory Submissions, Social Bookmarking, Article Submission, Forum Posting etc. But gradually Google made the search algorithm more and more complex making people carve for new ways to achieve the best visibility on search engines. Yes you got my point here. I am talking about the role of Social Media. Social sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Digg, Delicious, and Stumble Upon, My Space are a few big names to count from the Social Media arena. These Social sites have revolutionized the whole search Engine process. Now a day’s you can’t ignore the role of Social Media sites while running a SEO campaign.

Facebook introduced a “LIKE” feature in it. It became the Buzz word in SEO. It started to affect the Bing search results. Then it also came up with the Fan Page concept. The Facebook PAGE with huge fan following is what people are looking for now a day. Some brands get fans just as they are well known to people everywhere e.g. Reebok, Nike, Coca Cola, and Pepsi. But a local brand trying to get more and more customer base also wants their fan following to advertise their brand. They are running their own Social media campaigns to get more fans, get more audiences for their products. The Facebook Page is also very important as the product get instant feedback from fans about the product so that the companies get to know about the want from the people (fans). Brands are running contests, discount offers so that more and more people can avail the facilities, services or products what they are offering.

Twitter also is the front runner in the role of creating social media awareness about brands. People are now aware of the fact that they have much choice while selecting a product or service they want to avail. So they always listen to other people who have experienced the particular services and products on social media. Twitter is a great place for this now. Tweets from people can make people change their mind about selecting any service or purchasing any product. The products and services which are the best gets Re-Tweets from other people who have already experienced it, making it a popular choice for others.

Likewise, Diggs, Stumble, Delicious can help you come on the front page of these websites if your update and share gets maximum votes. Coming on the home page in the news section of these big Social giants will derive huge traffic for your site and likewise the SEO campaign will also get a boost.

Lately, Google introduced the +1 in their huge collection of Google products. +1 is said to affect the Google search results directly. And for most of the people in the world Google is the only search engine they know and use for searching. People now want more and more +1s. But it will take some time to see the actual influence of +1. But the initial observation of mine says that it is affecting the search results. The more +1 you get for your website, the more Google will consider it a better website, thus will be getting an advantage in search engine visibility. Pages that have been tweeted, re-tweeted, and liked are seeing the greatest increases in search engine prominence, the same follows with +1. This shows the social authority that your page is having.

Despite of all these facts, I still believe that the better the content and information you provide for your visitors/customers, the better the search engine specially the Google, will consider you as a better resource for the its users. So doing all the latest SEO and SMO planning, get a well written content which is unique, gives the best information and meets your customers requirement. If you serve them well with quality, Google will pay you for it.

50 Fantastic Google Spreadsheet Shortcuts for Students

Hello Folks!!!
On May 4 2011, I got a mail from Jasmine Hall. And She asked me to post me "50 Fantastic Google Spreadsheet Shortcuts for Students".  She asked me "On a related note, we recently published an article that you might want to share it with your readers." I agreed to her and as a result I am posting the content that she referred. It not actually only a SEO or SMO resource. Its Google Spreadsheet Shortcuts for students. The original content is @ Here we go:-

If you're a busy college student, the more ways you have to accomplish things quickly, the better. That's where things like keyboard shortcuts can come in handy, especially when you're trying to enter data efficiently and professionally into a spreadsheet, like those offered on Google. Here are some shortcuts and tips you can use to improve your Google spreadsheets skills, get homework over with, and go back to having fun, just being a college student.
Here are some amazing features that you might not have even known were offered through Google Spreadsheets.
  1. Fill themselves in. Using Google Forms, you can email questions and data to others and it will automatically fill in your spreadsheet, making it very easy to collect information.
  2. Revert to an earlier version. If you're sharing access to a document in Google spreadsheets, you might want to go back to an earlier version before someone made changes. The program makes that simple. Click on File and then revision history to make changes.
  3. Chat while editing. Because Google has many integrated features, you can chat with your classmates, research subjects or professors while you chart data.
  4. Insert a formula. Formulas can make you life a whole lot easier, allowing you to perform functions on a cell or a group of cells to better organize and analyze your data.
  5. Spice it up with gadgets. Why stick with a boring old spreadsheet when you can spice things up with some gadgets? Try out a few to make your data much more visually appealing.
  6. Track your finances. If your spreadsheet is related to the stock market, then Google makes things pretty simple by integrating Google Finance with Google Spreadsheets.
  7. Google search inside a spreadsheet. Think of a question while you're working on your spreadsheet? Get answers without ever leaving it with a feature that lets you use Google search right within your document.
  8. Color code it. If you want to better organize your data, colors can be a big help. With Google Spreadsheets, it's simple to color code and highlight just about anything you want. If you want to get fancy, you can have these colors automatically change within a given set of guidelines.

These keyboard shortcuts are essential to working with Google Spreadsheets.

Do Not Fool Google - If You Are In A Habit Of Copy Content From Another Sites, Google Will Penalize You

A webmaster has asked Google in a Webmaster forum about the reason for his site penalization - drop in the ranking. Google made a point that the site is having copy content on the site. The webmaster to the surprise replied Google that others are copying his content. But Google cannot be fooled. Google does an investigation and found that the Webmaster's  content is under question and is copied.
The thing to be keep in mind from now is that copy content from another site is not going to help your business and Website in long run. And Google is not a dumb. Google is the king of Search Engine and it know all about the online materials.
Here are the relevant snippets from the thread:
One thing that is very important to our algorithms is unique and compelling content. In general, it makes little sense for us to crawl and index content that is copied, rewritten, automatically translated or otherwise automatically processed -- we assume that our users would much rather want to find the original source. With that in mind, I would strongly recommend removing all such content -- should you have any -- and making sure that all of your content is of the highest quality possible, and really unique and compelling, in short: something that users will want to refer friends to.
Should you find and remove content like that, I would recommend submitting a reconsideration request after cleaning everything up, detailing the changes that you have made.
Please also understand the fact that people are copying me. Just like my last post New Zealand vs South Africa it is totally unique, read it as its worth reading as I write my own reviews and you can see last night I submited this post and it is already copied to two or more sites. You can check all my reviews, they are totally unique but it seems they are no longer, on web I can not stop people copying me. And if I would be well indexed this would surely copied by many.
It would seem strange to me that the Times of India would be copying and correcting the mistakes in your posts... Looking through a sample of your posts, I don't see a problem with other sites copying your content, but I do see posts on your site that are just rewritten from other sources. While I understand that you can't make up news, it's really important to us that your site provides unique and compelling content of its own, even if you are referring to other sources. One way to do this could be to properly quote and link to the original source, while making sure that your commentary makes up the majority of the content on those pages. Rewriting other sources without attribution or unique additional value is not something that our algorithms appreciate.
The original discussion is here- Click Google penalization

Its time for ethical SEO to come in action so that spammers can take a step back. Trust on good SEO Services.

Google Bot Back In Business After Very Slow Activities In The Past Fort Night

Google Bot Back In Business After Very Slow Activities In The Past Fort Night

I usully take my blogs seriously and use to monitor its crawl rates etc by google. My blog Seo-Trends-tricks was not showing crawled by Google since 2nd June 2010. And I had posted a few posts on my blog. I check the individual urls of the posts posted after 2nd of june. I found it was again crawled on 4th june. But this new result ws not being shown SERP. Then I found people talking about Google Crawlers slow crawling rate. Now to my pleasure I found that it is showing 18th june the last crawled date. And it is still the last date showing.
I have found a chart showing activity of the Google Bot activity in the last 90 days. Here is the chart to have a brief idea.

I visited Google Webmaster Help and found that many webmasters around the globe are having this problem from Google Bot. So I am wondering whether this is due to Caffeine? But I am not very sure about it. It may be that it is due to some sort of Malware Misclassifiction issue, and google stops crawling sites untill it is de bugged. But still its just my assumption as there is nothing official about it. Lets hope that Google Bots are hungry again like before and will eat up more and more pages like before.

Why Having More Quality Backlinks For Your Site Is Very Important??

Why Having More Quality Backlinks For Your Site Is Very Important??

"Backlinks Play Important Part In Your Websites Traffic & Popularity On The Web"
As we know being a SEO Professional, that Link Building is a very integral part of our business. Link Building make a website's inlinks on to another site and it leads to referrals traffic from there. Over all it help in getting good PR (Page Rank) for our site.
So lets discuss about some general link building trends, techniques and terms which take part in the overall process.
1. Link Popularity
Link popularity is a measurement of all the links coming into your site (or backlinks), as well as a measure of the quality of those links. According to the major search engines, if your website is good it should be linked to other website of the same theme like your website. If you have no incoming links from another sites, Search Engines think your website is of little relevance. The more links you have, the more “votes” you have on how popular your site is. Thus, the act of link building can be likened to campaigning.
All search engines factor link popularity into their algorithms, but they calculate it differently. As a general rule, Google is more interested in the quality of the links, while Yahoo is more interested in the total number of links to your site.
2. PageRank
Google uses PageRank to determine the quality of a given site measured on a scale of 0-10, with 10 being the highest. To see this number, you can install the Google Toolbar or use any of several browser add-ons. From Google’s point of view, having one link from a site that has a large PageRank counts more than many sites that have a lower rank. A page that Google has already rewarded with a decent PageRank (or PR for short) is sometimes called an authority page. Once you have a PR of 1, your site has some power. When your pages achieve a PR of 3, 4, or 5, you have “link juice” to pass on to other pages.
3. On-site SEO
The allocation of PageRank from one page to another within your site is sometimes called on-site SEO. An advanced form of the discipline is known as “PageRank siloing,” or “PageRank sculpting.” If you have a Web page with good PR, you can use that page to get other pages higher in the search engine rankings for specific keyword phrases.
NOTE -- We will discuss "PageRank siloing" & "Page Rank Sculpting" in a another post in detail.
While off-site optimization plays a larger role in gaining natural organic traffic, you can still see between 20 and 30 percent boosts in rankings by properly optimizing your pages with on-page factors.
4. Internal Linking Structure
Start with your title and header tags. The area to focus on is your internal linking structure. Basically, you want to link stronger pages to weaker pages of your site.
This concept of getting backlinks to a page internally is sometimes overshadowed by trying to acquire backlinks from external pages. Why not use the same concept and apply it to your internal linking structure and reap the rewards?
5. Nofollow Tag
Now, let’s say you have a shopping cart or link on your site that leads to a page that you don’t care to send link juice to. You can add a nofollow tag to the end of the link in your HTML code. This conserves your link authority and applies it to the links where you want to pass authority. A link using the nofollow tag looks like this: a no-followed link

What Is KEI (Keyword Effetiveness Index)

What Is KEI (Keyword Effetiveness Index)

KEI is Keyword Effectiveness Index. KEI measures the number of searches for a keyword with the number of search results to point out which keywords are more effective and fruitful for your business.
Suppose the number of searches for a keyword is 500 per month and Google displays 500,000 results for that keyword. Then the ratio between the popularity and competitiveness for that keyword is 500 divided by 500,000. In this case, the KEI 0.001. The higher is the KEI, the more popular your keywords are and less is the  competition. This gives you a fair chance for you to be on top with that keyword.
However, the KEI makes no statement about the quality of the competition. While there might be only a few competitors in the search results, these competitors could be big players with big SEO teams and thousands of back links.
But do not panic if you don't have a better KEI. You can get on top with any keyword of your choice provided you put a lots of wise effort in your work. Yes wise Effort, mind it. Play with the search engines by following the basics of search engine techniques. And definitely you are gonna rock with your keywords in no time.

Is Submitting Your Site To PR 0 Site Is A Waste Of Time?

Is Submitting Your Site To PR 0 Site Is A Waste Of Time?

There is one very disturbing question that is coming in my mind about Directory submission process - Is Submitting Your Site To PR 0 Site Is A Waste Of Time? As I have been submitting my site to various directories from a directory list since last one month or so. Many of these directories are having PR 0 with only a few having PR 1 and above.
One thing that I have noticed during this process is that Those sites having PR 1 and more take a lot of time in fact months to approve the listing. But those with no PR take mostly a week to approve the listing. So the question is is this a good thing submitting on them. Will they help me improve my ranking and increase traffic to my site. Will Google count thse links of my site on PR 0 Directories?
Out of this query and researching on the Internet after a lots of pain I got a few answers -
Some says do not worry on PRs of the Directories. The main thing is the that you should submit unique Title & Descriptions for each submission. If you are using same set if Title & Description in each submissions then Google may not like this as a case of duplicate Content. Google may count the hundreds of the listing of your site on those directories as only 4-5 backlinks to your site. And regarding the PR of the directories, you never know what will be the PR of those sites after a year or so. It may be that after a year you will see that those sites have become very popular and their PR is also increased.  At that time you will not feel like you have wasted your valuable time and effort in submitting to those PR 0 sites a year ago.
And above all every new site has a PR 0 at the start. But gradually after time will pass they attain a good PR(Like when your site was also a new one with no PR when you started your site.)
There is also a very good valid result out of my research that - look for the sites already listed in the category you are going to submit your site or in other categories too. If there are good big websites listed there, then be sure that there is waste of your time and effort.
One another thing is that do check whether the pages of the directory where you are looking for a backlink for your site are getting indexed by Search Engines, otherwise you are wasting your time. You can also ping the pages where you can see your link live. This will help you in indexing your site in Search Engine database.
Also check whether the directory you have selected for submission will list your site in the directory for a long time or not.
You can also go for Article Submission/ Article Marketing, Blog Commenting, Forum Discussion with your Signature and Link Exchange for quality backlinks for your site. Do not forget to submit your sites link to all the search engines.
